A 57-YEAR-OLD OFFICIAL SUMMONED FOR TAX EVASION

An investigating task team on Monday,14 March 2022, released a summons for a suspect to appear in court for the convicted Crime.
The South African Revenue Services (SARS) reported that the suspect, a Director at the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC), failed to submit income tax return between 2016 and 2021.
As a result, the entity was unable to evaluate the suspect’s financial situation for the stated period.
Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu says the incident was reported to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation in Johannesburg for further investigations.
IEC Director is expected to appear before the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on the 12th of April 2022 charged with contravention of income tax and Value Added Tax.
