ANOTHER SUSPECT BEHIND BARS FOR POSSESSION OF AN UNLICENSED FIREARM.

Police in conjunction with JMPD apprehended a 26-year-old male for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition corner Plein and Von Weiligh Street in Johannesburg on 05 July 2022 at 14:00.
Captain Xoli Mbele says police were busy with their foot patrols when they saw two suspicious males exchanging something. They approached them; searched them and recovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
He says firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in the commission of other serious and violent crimes.
Johannesburg Central Station Commander Brigadier Perumal praised the good work done by law enforcement agencies. He urged the police to intensify their operations to ensure that the community feel safe when walking around CBD.
Furthermore the suspect is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
