TWO HAWKS OFFICIALS AND A TRADITIONAL HEALER GRANTED BAIL

Two Hawks officials, Lieutenant Colonel Refiloe Maria Elizabeth Mnisi (45), Captain Mapatsi Thandi Mooka (41) and a traditional healer Elizabeth Nonhlahla Chabalala (44), from Soshanguve, were granted bail by the Pretoria and Pretoria North Magistrates Court respectively.

The trio was arrested on 27 May 2022 on charges of theft, illegal possession of ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen property by the HAWKS Priority Crime investigation Unit.

NPA Regional Spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana says that, the two HAWKS officials appeared at the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Sunday 30 May, Mnisi was granted R3000 bail, while Mooka was granted R2000 bail. Chabalala, who appeared at the Pretoria North Magistrate Court was granted R1000 bail.

It is alleged that Mnisi stole 3 boxes of live ammunition and gave them to the complainant in the matter, who is also a HAWKS official. Mnisi allegedly asked the complainant to deliver the ammunition to Chabalala’s home in Soshanguve.

The HAWKS officials’ matter was postponed to 27 June 2022 and Chabalala’s matter was postponed to 12 July 2022 for further investigation.
