31-YEAR-OLD MAN FOUND GUILTY OF PREMEDITATED MURDER OF A MINOR

The NPA welcomes the conviction in this gruesome case involving a child. The Pretoria High Court found Moses Makoso (31) from De Deur guilty of premeditated murder, rape and kidnapping of a six-year-old girl on 29 April 2021, as well as obstruction of justice.
Makoso was apprehended by the community members after the little girl’s friends alerted her family.
The NPA Regional spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana says on 01 May 2021, Makoso confessed to killing and burning the child’s body. He then pointed out to the police where the incidents occurred.
Maseko has been in custody since his arrest. In court he pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The matter was postponed to 19-20 September 2022 for sentence proceedings.
