Bafana Bafana coach is concerned about poor run of results
2 min readBafana mentor, Hugo Broos is concerned about the national team poor performances compared to the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast. He was left unimpressed by team’s recent inconsistent results indicate a decline in quality.
Bafana Bafana have drawn four of their last five matches, including a fixture against Andorra that ranked 164th in the FIFA world rankings, Huge Bross revealed that his side challenged strong opponents.
The win of Bafana Bafana was against neighbouring Country Zimbabwe in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Later on today(Tuesday 10 September)Bafana Bafana will be facing South Suadan for AFCON Qualifier 2025.
Broos revealed that they have been facing tough opponents in their previous fixtures and was not easy.
Broos said “About the draws, you also have to look at who you played. We didn’t play against the worst teams in Africa; we played against the best teams.
“Nigeria and Algeria, for example. All teams who are in the top 10 (in Africa) and not at home. We played there (away). So I think those are results that you can expect and it has nothing to do with our qualities or not having played a good game. I think it was just the teams we faced.
Despite having a poor run of results, bafana coach emphasized that his side is not weak team though.
Broos said “We played very good games against Algeria and Nigeria and all others. We just played against Andorra, but okay, we used a second team. It was just a training game for us.
“We also played a draw against Uganda, but we will see next month how strong Uganda is. So, this is not a weak team. This is a strong team, powerful and dedicated on the field. So it’s tough to play against.”
During their previous fixture Bafana Bafana collected One point against Uganda during the AFCON Qualifier where they played to a draw of 2-2.
