Ferrari principal admitted that they made a mistake during the race
2 min readFerrari team missed the opportunity to secure the first spot in Singapore Grand Prix after their two drivers failed to execute the process.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz from Ferrari finished behind the race winner Lando Norris during Friday’s race, but they were ultimately unable to put it to good use after separate mistakes in qualifying.
Sainz crashed while trying to overtake in Q3 and was forced to start from P10 on the grid and was fined amount of €50,000 for crossing the live track from the stewards.
Team principal Frederic Vassuer highlighted that such mistakes in qualifying are the reason why they had difficult race on Sunday, claiming that there was no problem with their cars.
Leclerc managed to snitch a fifth spot after two drivers Fernando Alonso and Nico Hulkenberg in front of him took their first stop.
As the race came to an end Ferrari driver Sainz finished on seventh spot while Max Verstappen finished on second spot with twenty (20) seconds behind Lando Norris.
Team principal Frederic Vassuer defended his drivers by saying they were as good as Norris in their last laps of the race.
He said “We were just as fast as Lando in the last 25 laps, Maybe he drove push-cool-push and charged the battery to try the fastest lap, I don’t know, but at least we were back on pace, and that was encouraging.
“On Friday we were in much better shape than fifth and seventh. So that means that we missed something over the weekend. But if you start in Singapore from ninth and tenth place, then we did something wrong on Saturday. It’s not Sunday we did wrong, but we need to do a better job on Saturday.”
