Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has revealed what transpired with Victor Osimhen’s transfer saga after his former club failed to get the service of the Nigerian striker.

The blues were active during the Summer transfer window where they signed few players to booster their attacking area. Even though Chelsea managed to secure the service of best players such as Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix and Pedro Neto, they failed to land their target man.

After monitoring other players across the Europe, the Blues made it known that their main target for summer transfer is the Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.

Even after submitting Seven different offers to the Napoli for the services of Nigerian striker, the blues failed to get their main target man.

Osimhen made it very clear that he wasn’t prepared to lower his wage demands, whist Chelsea made it clear they weren’t prepared to break their wage structure for the Nigerian.

Victory Osimhen has joined the Turkey’s side Galatasaray on loan for a long season then Chelsea will have to wait for January transfer window to try again to secure the service of the 25-year-old.

Even though the Nigerian striker received criticism from a lot of people for being greedy but his fellow country man Obi John Mikel shared his thoughts regarding the saga.

Mikel said “I mean, a lot happened, and I think it’s an open secret that I was involved in the deal.

“I was involved in trying to make sure that I get Victor to Chelsea, yeah, a lot happened, it was very interesting, because I think I hear a lot of people saying this and saying that about Victor and and how greedy he is and stuff like that. Blah, blah blah.

“I just want to say it here that I know the boy since from the very first day he joined the national team, yeah, my relationship with him has been very, very good.

“I know what he’s capable of, and I just want to say that is absolutely not true. Victor is not a greedy boy. He only wants to get what he deserves. And that’s not a problem.

“I know what happened. I was there, in the midst of everything. So I can tell everybody that that is definitely not true.”

Over the weekend Osimhen was involved in national stage where he scored a brilliant goal to hand Nigerian 2-0 against Benin during 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.

Osimhen and his national team managed to walk away with full three points and won by 3-0 goals.
