Former Pirates player suggest that new signed player should have sealed deal with Chiefs
2 min readFormer Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi thinks that Pirates new right back Van Rooyen should have signed with Kaizer Chiefs.
Orlando Pirates have announced the signing of Deano Van Rooyen from Stellenbosch during this current transfer window.
Van Rooyen added the list of already signed players such as Miguel Viera Davel ‘Gilberto’, Thuso Moleleki, Selaelo Rasebotja, Thalente Mbatha and others.
Vilikazi detailed that most of the teams in South Africa they lack plan and that delays them to have a progress.
Vilakazi said “The problem that I’m seeing with teams in South Africa is lack of planning and planning is a very crucial part. Right now, you are signing Deano [but] he didn’t even have pre-season with the team.
“What are we saying about his shape, his understanding with the team? So, you are going to put him in the team in the league and he doesn’t understand the guys in terms of how they play.
“I love Pirates a lot, but my thinking is that it was going to be better if he went to [Kaizer] Chiefs.”
Pirates have two right backs Thabiso Lebitso and Bandile Shandu who are currently nursing their respective injuries and they are left with only right back Thabiso Monyane and Tso feels like team should not have added another right back.
Vilakazi said “There is [Thabiso] Monyane at Pirates who I think is doing very well and this boy [Thabiso] Lebitso. I mean Lebitso alone, no one comes close to him not even Monyane.
“Deano is good in defending, he is good going forward but is he good in delivery when it comes to that bar line where he needs to give a quality cross?
“These are some of the things I check but having Lebitso and Monyane, Monyane is still young he will learn from Lebitso. You don’t have to get another player.
“That will kill his confidence because for me when you bring Deano obviously when Deano is not playing it’s going to be Lebitso. So where is Monyane going to go?”
During the Preliminary First leg of CAF Champions League Pirates new signing was no where to be found.
Orlando Pirates played draw in their first leg of preliminary against Disciplise FC of Mauritania by a score line of 0-0 and second leg will be at Orlando Stadium on Friday 23 kick off set for 19h00.
