Gas midfielder(Sky Bet League One) hopes his nation can qualify for AFCON

Kamil Conteh is happy for the opportunity to represent Sierra Leone in the upcoming international break for the African prestigious tournament.

The midfielder have represented his nation on nine occasion since turning into the pro soccer player and has made his debut in March 2022 against Togo.

It is critical stage for Sierra Leone as they prepare to face Chad and Zambia in their qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations that will be held in Morocco. During the previous edition in Côte d’Ivoire Sierra Leone didn’t partaking after they failed to book their space.

Conteh is praying to afforded opportunity to display his skills and stated that the main aim for his nation is to qualify.

He said “I’m looking forward to it, It’s always an honour to play for them. My family here and back home are proud. If I get minutes, I will show what I can do. We have qualifiers, so the aim is to qualify for the AFCON.”

Conteh is a key figure for Gas team in Sky Bet League One this season and has not missed a minute.

So far they(Gas) have played four(4) games while collecting seven points after registering Two(2) wins, One(1) draw and One(1) defeat.

When being asked about him leaving his club before their two fixtures on Friday and Saturday the midfielder revealed that he will check how they are playing.

Conteh said “We’re playing on the Friday, and on the Saturday, I think I’ll be travelling, but I will keep up to date with the result.

“If I can watch it I will, but most of the time, I will keep flicking through to see that we’re winning!

“I back the boys. It’s not like I’m injured or anything, I’m just going away for a bit. But yeah, I back the boys to win next week so I’m looking forward to it.”

He was excited after his close friend Promise Omochere scored brace for Gas in the first half and second half.

Conteh said “It was a good win, This week, we were working a lot on the attacking stuff in front of the goal and taking our chances.

“Promise [Omochere] took his chances well. We could’ve got more, but we’ll take the win. He’s been working on finishing his training.

“All the hard work that he’s put in has come to light. So, for him now, it’s about building on it, continuing into the next game and keep working.”
