ICC increases money for women’s T20 cricket

Early on today(Tuesday 17th September 2024) the International Cricket Council revealed that the stake for women’s T20 will rise or increased.
The amount that is being added into the test series is $7.96 million in prize money, while the winners will also walk away with increased amount.
The previous amount of the winners was set at $1 million and the new price is placed on $2.34 million.
India who are the current champion of men’s T20 World Cup have been awarded a total amount of $2.45 million earlier this year.
On the men’s T20 World Cup series the total amount of the price that is being handed out is equals to $11.25 million.
ICC wrote “This move is in line with the ICC’s strategy to prioritise the women’s game and accelerate its growth by 2032.
“Teams will now receive equal prize money for the equivalent finishing position at comparable events as well as the same amount for winning a match at those events.
“The men’s T20 World Cup 2024 event prize money is only higher on account of 10 additional teams participating and 32 more matches played.”
According to the publication the runners-up will receive $1.17 million, while each of the 10 participating teams are assured of $112,500.
