Italian international revealed that he does not regret his decision
2 min readManuel Locatelli revealed that he does not regrets his choice for turning down Arsenal offer in 2021, though he like playing style of Mikel Arteta.
The midfielder played huge part for his nation (Italy) winning the Euros that summer, scoring two goals against Switzerland in the group-stage and coming off the bench in both the semi-final and final.
After his brilliant display during 2021 Euro, Locatelli was monitored by many clubs across the Europe including English side Arsenal whom have offered player £34m.
Locatelli was not impressed by the offer from Arsenal and he ended up choosing his home giants Juventus where he spend 3 season.
During the recent interview, the Italian super-star was asked if he regret not joining Mikel Arteta’s side or not, he then replied by emphisizing that.
Locatelli said “No. But I love watching football, and I like watching their games and I respect their coach, Arteta.”
Arsenal failed to land their target man during the recent concluded transfer window as he opted once again to play his football career in Italy.
Even though they failed to get the service of Locatelli, Arsenal managed to secure the service of the following players Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu, and making Martin Odegaard’s move to the club a permanent one.
CEO of Italian side Sassuolo, Giovanni Carnevali confirmed that Gunners submitted a bid for Locatelli, but they were always unlikely to be successful due to the midfielder’s desire to remain in Italy.
Carnevali said “Locatelli wants to join Juventus, However, the club needs to reach an agreement with us.
“We’ll see if there are the right conditions to make it happen, otherwise he is staying with us. We’ll speak to Juve.
“Locatelli also has proposals from Arsenal and another English club that has now joined the race, so he must make a decision, or of course he could stay with us.”
