Pirates new signing expressed his joy for making a debut with his new club

Deano van Rooyen introduced himself into the Buccaneers faithful during the CAF Champions League in Botswana. He went on to participate in two fixture with pirates as he was featured in the second leg of CAF and in the opening fixture against Chippa United.

Van Rooyen said “I am happy to make my debut here at Orlando Stadium it was great feeling. We just can continue from here.”

Deano Van Rooyen also highlighted the importance of the fans and emphasized that he is happy they(fans) come out in numbers.

He said “If your mentality is right, you can achieve anything you want. Obviously, you must start with a win at home. It just boosts the confidence going forward to the next game and for the league going forward.”

“(The fans) played a big part in the game; I feel that they are the 12th man in the field of play. They encourage us, I am happy for them to come in every week to the game.”

After making his debut on the color of The Ghost, the former stellies captain received praise from the head coach.

Reviero said “Deano …. showed already that he can make an impact in the team, He is used to competing for trophies already coming from Stellenbosch and doing a fantastic job there with the rest of the team.

“For us it’s a guarantee of immediate competition for the starting eleven and a guarantee whenever he is on the field, he will give us something.”

Orlando Pirates have advanced into the group stages of CAF Champions League and they will be facing Polokwane City tomorrow (Tuesday 24th September) for Betway Premiership.
