Proteas announces Test squad for West Indies tour

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has officially announced a test squad for their men’s upcoming tour of the West Indies, which includes some fascinating and the return of known faces. South Africa’s tour for West Indies first test will start on 7 August in Trinidad, followed by the second test a week later in Guyan.

The players who are to return and the Rockies, will include the likes of David Bedingham Dane Piedt to name few.

David Bedingham, Dane Peterson and Dane Piedt; These are some players who were part of the makeshift squad that toured New Zealand in February and they are retained for the West Indies series offering them another chance to shine.

Matthew Breetzke; the consistent domestic performer finally got his well-deserved first test call-up to showcasing South Africa’s commitment to rewarding strong domestic form.

The return of Ryan Rickelton: Wicket-Keeper batter Rickelton is back in the team after he was last featured in the home series against the West Indies back then in March 2023.

South Africa coach Shukri Conrad released statement that detailed the exclusion first team player Marco Jansen

Conrad said ” The decision to rest Marco Jansen was taken to allow for a conditioning period aimed at ensuring optional physical and mental well-being given the season-long workloads.”

Temba Bavuma(Captain), David Bedingham, Matthew Breetzke, Nandre Burger, Gerald Coetzee, Tony de Zorzi, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Dane Peterson, Dane Piedt, Kagiso Rabada, Tristan Stubbs, Ryan Rickelton (Wicket-Keeper) and Kyle Verreynne.

This squad promises exciting possibilities as South Africa hopes to book their space at the Caribbean and World Test Championship glory.
