SA youth team set to participate in Hong Kong for world champs

The South African Youth Kung Fu team lead by Kung Fu World Champion, Muhammad Junaid “MJ.Li” Chafeker departed from Cape Town International Airport yesterday morning to compete at 19th Hong Kong International Wushu Kung Fu Championships.

The team had a successful campaign in March where they were crowned the Champions of the event.

After successful event in March, total number of nine athletes were selected to compete in the Hong Kong International Competition this month.

Team South Africa will be presenting the whole African continent at the prestigious tournament that will start from 13-16 September at the Ma On Shan Olympic Venue in Hong Kong.

During the event we will see 3000 athletes from 32 nations across the world competing in Chinese Kickboxing Full Contact, TaiChi, Individual Taolu Kata and Group Synchronised Events and Weapons divisions.

The trainer MJ.Li promised that the athlete are on the best position to compete and they will be hoping to bring some medals back home to add to the team that competed at Paralympic in Paris.

MJ Li said “A massive shout-out to all who supported us. We will work very hard to represent South Africa and bring back the gold. Inshallah Amin, God willing, bismillah, in the name of God only.

“The team will go live regularly on social media platforms while in Hong Kong and keep the country posted regarding the results.”

MJ Li had a good record of winning medals as they did soo in 2018 where they managed to accumulate two gold medals, two silver and three bronze medals nine medals then thefollowing year they won a total number of nine medals.

The SA team is in a good hands with a lot of experience from four athletes who have been participating in the competition for the past seven years.

Out of the eight years the four athletes have managed to won different medals such as Gold, Silver and Bronze in different countries such as Hong Kong, Turkiye, Botswana and the Africa Youth Kung Fu Championship in Cape Town.
