SAFA Announced new COO(Chief Operations Officer)

The South African Football Association (SAFA) has made an announcement concerning the new COO, as Advocate Tebogo Motlanthe returns. Early on Monday, SAFA released a statement on their website page that read as follows “Advocate Tebogo Motlanthe has returned to the South African Football Association (SAFA) as the new Chief Operator Officer (COO).

“The position of COO has been vacant since May 2023 when Ms Lydia Monyepao was elevated to CEO following Adv Motlanthe’s departure for personal reasons.”

The President of SAFA Danny Jordan highlighted that the new COO, he is making things happen and he welcomed him back. Jordan said “The position of COO has been entrenched at SAFA but was vacant, so we are happy that Adv Motlanthe he has agreed to return.

“We want to make sure that we have winning national teams, we want to strengthen schools sports, we want to qualify for the FIFA Women’s and Men’s World Cups, AFCON and WAFCON, Strengthen our administration and also work on the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup bid.”

After being announced as a new COO of SAFA, Adv Motlanthe revealed that he is happy to be back at SAFA House. Motlanthe said “I am happy to be back and part of a collective that is working on making SAFA a World class organization.”

Motlanthe previously served as CEO at SAFA until he resigned in April 2023. He now takes over as COO, a position that has been vacant since May 2023.
