SEVERAL STREETS IN POLOKWANE CITY AREA FACES TEMPORARY CLOSURE DUE TO REHABILITATION
1 min readPOLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality says that residents, businesses and motorists should take note of the temporary closure of portions of several streets in the city due to a necessary rehabilitation work. The Municipality said that closures are necessary to ensure the proper rehabilitation and improvement of municipal street infrastructure.
According to the Polokwane Municipality, the affected streets and their respective closure segments will be closed from Tuesday 2 July to 22 July 2024.
The following streets will be affected:
– Boom Street from Devenish to Excelsior;
– Bodenstein Street from Paul Kruger to Schoeman;
– Rabe Street from Plein to Oost;
– Dorp Street from Hospital to Rabe;
– Jorissen Street from Plein to Dorp; and
– Hans van Rensburg Street from Devenish to Grobler.
Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said other portions will be reopened as the contractor completes them.
“These closures are necessary to ensure the proper rehabilitation and improvement of municipal street infrastructure, which is vital for enhancing road safety, reducing congestion, and improving overall traffic flow within the city,”.
Selala urged those affected to cooperate and be patient during this rehabilitation period.
“The municipality apologizes for the inconvenience and will further provide regular updates on the progress of the rehabilitation work and notify the public as soon as the streets are reopened,” he said.
