Somalian International referee will be part of officials for the fixture between Al Ahly vs Zamalek
1 min readEarly on today the Governing body of African soccer CAF have announced the official referees for the CAF Super Cup.
Somali international referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan previously officiated Mamelodi Sundowns vs Esperance de Tunisia earlier this year.
According to Mogadishu HOL confirmed that: CAF has announced the officiating team for the upcoming Super Cup fixture between Egyptian rivals Al Ahly and Zamalek and Abdulkadir Artan has been appointed as the fourth official.
The mouth watering fixture is set for September 27 at the Kingdom Arena Stadium in Saudi Arabia, while kickoff will be at 9 PM CET.
The man in the middle will be Libyan referee Moataz Ibrahim then will be assisted by Attia A’mesead and Tunisian Khalil El Hassany. Meanwhile the South African referee Tom Abungil will head the VAR team, with Moroccan Zakaria Brensy assisting.
This fixture will be played in front of full house(sold out) venue and the two teams will be hoping to brag the rights.
The Somalian referee in this year’s AFCON Qualifiers was tasked with a fixture between Tunisia and Namibia in Group E.
Al Ahly are the current champions of CAF Champions League while Zamalek are the Champions of CAF Confederation Cup.
It will not be the first time when these two giants from Egypt meet at Super Cup, they played each other back in 1994 and Zamalek defeated Al Ahly by 1-0 goal.
