Spanish defender agreed personal terms with Saudi’s Club

Former Atletico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso will join Saudi’s club Al-Shabab after reaching personal terms with the Al Riyadh-based club.

According to Ariyadhiah publication in Saudi Arabia they state that Hermoso will sign a two-year deal with Al-Shabab that will see him earn €16m during his stay in Saudi Arabia.

At the moment Hermoso is club-less after his contract with Atletico Madrid was not renewed at the end of last season where he spent five-years at the Metropolitano.

The 29-year-old was signed by Atletico Madrid for €25m from Espanyol in 2019 then went on to play 174 matches under Diego Simeone and scored ten goals and helping them win the 2021 LaLiga title.

He registered five caps to his name in his nation Spain and Hermoso will join other Six signings such as Giacomo Bonaventura and Abderrazak Hamdallah to name few.

He will take a place of Romain Saïss at centre-back after the Moroccan returned back to his parent club Al-Sadd after his loan spell come to an end. Al-Shabab saw the Brazilian defender Iago Santos joins Shabab Al Ahli and lost the service of Ivan Rakitic.

The team is led by Portuguese tactician Vitor Pereira while Al-Shabab are monitoring the situation of Sevilla’s star Nemanja Gudelj and Watford defender Wesley Hoedt.
