Sundowns coach demand too much from Lorch
2 min readManqoba Mngqithi has given an update regarding their new player Thembinkosi Lorch who sustained injury towards the end last season.
Lorch joined Sundowns from Pirates in January transfer window after he spent nine years with the sea robbers.
The former Maluti F.E.T college star player was signed by Rulani Mokwena who was trying to beef up his attacking midfield and later on his (Lorch) signing was questioned by Sporting Director Flemming Berg.
Mgqithi was afforded opportunity to take over from Mokwena and he warned Lorch to deliver for Sundowns this season and told the player to put more effort for the club. Mngqithi said “Lorch is in a very good headspace, we were with him even this morning, he’s started training although he’s not into full training.
“It’s him, [Sipho] Mbule are still out due to minor injuries, [Matias] Esquivel might be in… towards the end of the week due to a minor strain.”
He said “But we believe he’s in a good headspace, he understands he’s employed by Sundowns, he has a responsibility to deliver for Sundowns. And if he doesn’t deliver for Sundowns we have many other options. So it’s natural for every player to want to fight for his place.”
Sundowns will play their first match of the season in the form of MTN8 and it remains to be seen if Mngqithi would give Lorch a chance. Up to so far Nyoso has scored six goals and provided three assists in 20 matches across all competitions.
