1 min readMamelodi Sundowns payed tribute to former player who recently passed away last week at his native place Cape Town(Mother City).
According to Idiski Time, Meiring died on Sunday at the age of 48 in Cape Town. Meiring holds the Premiership Soccer League record of scoring goals for nine different clubs.
aidiski Time wrote “Former Bafana Bafana striker Alton Meiring has sadly passed away. The 48-year-old, who had two caps for Bafana, played for several clubs, including Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroka Swallows, Jomo Cosmos, Golden Arrows and Manning Rangers.
“We, at iDiski Times, we would like to express our deepest condolences to Meiring’s family and friends.”
Meiring who passed away still hold a record of representing Nine different teams in PSL elite division and scored for those teams.
Bafana ba Style have released a statement that honored the life of their former striker Alton Meiring.
Sundowns wrote “The Chairman and the Motsepe Family, the Board of Directors, Technical Team, Players, Management, Staff, Supporters of Mamelodi Sundowns FC & the entire Yellow Nation express their deepest condolences to the family and friends as we mourn the loss of former Mamelodi Sundowns striker, Alton Meiring.
“Some of the top flight teams that the Bafana Bafana international played for are AmaZulu, Jomo Cosmos, Hellenic, Golden Arrows and Moroka Swallows. We pray that the Almighty gives comfort and strength to the Meiring family, his friends and former teammates.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and family. Rest in Peace Alton.”
