Wydad Casablanca coach revealed what he learned from Jurgen Klopp
1 min readAfter taking over as the head coach, Rulani Mokoena didn’t have a good start into his new journey at Botolo Premiership. Mokoena during the recent past summer transfer window made a few signing with a hope of bolstering his squad.
Rulani revealed what he discussed with Jurgen Klopp the time he visited the Anfield while coaching Sundowns.
He said “Klopp said to me, ‘know just enough as a head coach not to be bulls**ted, so that people don’t pull wool over your eyes, I try to invest my time in different areas.
““I have got to work four times as hard as some coaches because of my handicap. I didn’t play professional football and I know how the world reacts to that.
“Coaches who did not play the game at a professional level have got very little to fall back on when they fail because they don’t have a reputation of having made people happy in their playing days.”
In the 2023/24 season, he guided the Brazilians to winning the inaugural African Football League trophy. His side went 29 league games undefeated.
The former Pirates coach will be aiming to return to winning ways when The Red Castle meets Difaâ El Jadidi on Saturday in a league clash.
