The Department of Basic Education says it is ready to administer the 2022 May/June examinations starting today, 09 My 2022.

A total of 290 682 candidates will sit for the mid-year exams and this comprises candidates registered for both the National Senior Certificate ( NSC ) and the Senior Certificate ( SC ) qualifications.

The National Senior Certificate candidates have written the NSC in 2021 and previous years but did not attain the full requirements of the qualification.

The Senior Certificate candidates are adult candidates that are over 21 years and have completed a minimum of Grade 7 or ABET Level IV.

Media Liaison Officer Terence Mahla says all candidates will be sitting for the examinations at 5 236 examination centres across the country. The Department of Basic Education has learnt valuable lessons from the previous examinations and is therefore confident in administering this examination successfully.

He says the Department is fully aware that the majority of their learners are honest and will comply with the rules so that they can eradicate any irregular practice that may rear its head in the examination.
