FATHER SENTENCED FOR RAPE AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

A 41-year-old father from Benoni has been given two life sentences and 83 years in jail for rape and other assault that sum up to a total of 426 offences brought to him by the High Court in Benoni.
NPA Regional Spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said, between the year 2012 and 2021, the man perpetrated these crimes against his daughter, his two stepsons, and others. The daughter was 7 months old till she was 8 years old at the time of the incidents, and the boys ranged in age from 6 to 14 at the time. In the absence of their mother, the father took care of them while the crimes were being committed in their home. He frequently requested that the young boys take images of their sister’s intimate areas while he was at work for his own pleasure.
It was February 2021 when the man was arrested, after one of the children confided in one of the family relatives and the matter was then reported to the police. The rest of the children later opened up about their experiences as well. The man has been in custody since his arrest. Simultaneous execution of the sentence was mandated by the judge. The father entered a guilty plea to each of the 426 offenses brought against him, included is 407 counts of possession of child pornography.
Prosecutor Adv. Jeffery Nethononda, said Mr X had no regard for older children’s rights as protected in the constitution, he said fatherhood is a calling, and Mr X abused that position of power. The degradation of children through child pornography is serious harm which impairs their dignity and devalues their worth.
