FOREIGN NATIONAL BEHIND BARS FOR POSSESSION OF AN UNLICENSED FIREARM.

Police apprehended a 30-year-old male foreign national for possession of an unlicensed firearm at Joubert Park corner Noord and Twist Street in Johannesburg on 04 July 2022 at 15:00.
Johannesburg Central Station Captain Xoli Mbele says police were busy with their routine crime prevention duties when they saw four suspicious males standing at the park. They approached them and one of them tried to run away but he was cornered. They searched him and recovered unlicensed firearm with no live rounds.
Mbele says firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in the commission of other serious and violent crimes. Investigation is underway and suspect will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
