MANKWENG COMMUNITY MARCH AGAINST DRUGS AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE

Lekgotla la Motswikitswiki together with Mankweng SAPS took the fight against drugs and substance abuse to the streets of Mankweng on Thursday,16 June 2022 in commemoration of Youth day.

Chairperson of the Lekgotla Tebogo Matsetela says the main aim of the march is to encourage youth to stop using drugs and for the community to condemn youth to stop using drugs and instead join activities such as soccer and aerobics. Drug use in the community is detrimental to the future of the youth and communities.

Mankweng SAPS Colonel Ramodike Morerwa says the most used drugs in the community are CAT, Nyaope and Crystal meth. He addressed the members of the community to work hand in hand with the police to end the scourge of drug abuse and report criminal activities happening in the area, in order to help close down the drug markets.

He concluded by saying it is saddening to see future leaders roaming the streets without direction.
