The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) appeared in at the Johannesburg Labour court to defend itself against a contempt of court case brought by former 2nd Deputy president Ruth Ntlokose on Friday, 05 August 2022.

Former Deputy president Ruth Ntlakose says she seeks to overturn the decisions of the National Congress and have the court declare the 11th National Congress as Null and void.
Furthermore, she says NUMSA General Secretary Comrade Irvin Jim and the President Andrew Chirwa should be jailed for 30 days as punishment for continuing with the congress and contempt of court.

NUMSA National Treasurer Mphumzi Maqungo calls all members of NUMSA to attend the picket on Friday, 19 August 2022.
