Two suspects between the ages of 22 and 30 were arrested by police for car hijacking near the intersection of Albert and Small Street on the 24 July 2022, at 16:30.

It is alleged that the two suspects stole a black BMW X1 driven by a 31-year-old man from the intersection of Grahamstown and Von Weiligh Street on Sunday around 5:00 in the morning. This comes after the two suspects opened the door of the victim’s car as he was stopped at a red light, they then pulled him outside and assaulted him, and took off with his car after he fled.

Captain Xoli Mbele say, the victim noticed the suspects driving a white Hyundai during the day and called the police, who were preoccupied with their regular work in preventing crime, to report it.

Mbele says the car was stopped near the intersection of the above-mentioned location, and the hijacked car was found parked close to a discount supermarket on Jeppe Street.

Furthermore, suspects will shortly appear in front of the Johannesburg Magistrate Court after an investigation has begun.
