ANOTHER INCIDENT OF GENDER BASED VIOLENCE REPORTED IN LIMPOPO

Limpopo MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale has described as disturbing, the continuous incidents of Gender Based Violence and Femicide in the province.

In the recent incident, a 34-year-old woman was attacked with a knife and a tomahawk at Petanenge village outside Tzaneen. She was declared dead at the scene.

The department’s spokesperson Witness Tiva says the suspect who is the ex-partner to the victim has been arrested and addmited to hospital after he attempted to commit suicide. This is despite a series of awareness campaigns that are being taken to areas where the scourge is prevalent and on various media platforms.

Tive says Petanenge village is one of the areas that seriously need special attention in terms of awareness campaign programs that are going to assist them in getting rid of these social ills.
