CITY POWER URGES RESIDENTS TO REDUCE THE USE OF APPLIANCES DURING PEAK HOURS
1 min readOn Monday, 13 June 2022 Natura was left with no power due to the overload of electricity appliances and city power technicians have been on the ground to repair and ensure that electricity is restored. This area has been with no lights since last week Wednesday,08 June 2022.
City power spokesperson Isaac Mangena says they have noted a high pressure on the network due to overloading that mainly occurs during peak hours because of illegal connections and increase in power demands at Freedom Park.
“Over the past few days, we lost about three feeder cables, and the one providing electricity currently was restored, ” said Mangena.
Mangena says the executives are planning to have a meeting with the community leaders to resolve issues of electricity and come up with permanent solutions.
Mangena further adds that they are worried about the protests happening in the area which will results in them not hesitating to halt their services,as the safety of their employees and the equipment are is at stake.
Residents are advised to switch off their geysers, stoves, pool pumps and multiple heaters during peak hours.
