Egypt boosts their confidence ahead of Olympics Opener with a victory over Iraq

Eqypt U23 national side edged Iraq by score-line of 2-1 on their final friendly match ahead of the Olympics Paris 2024 which will kick start on 24th July.

The Pharaohs played two international friendly as part of the preparation for Olympics where they registered one win as well as one draw. Their first game was up against Ukraine last and they played a draw of 1-1 and secured victory on their second match where they played up against Iraq, winng the game by a 2-1.

Ibrahim Adel was the hero on the day playing against Iraq as he managed to score brace. Adel who plays for Pyramids FC in Egypt. He will be one of the key crucial for his nation in the upcoming Olympics, where he will carry his nation on his shoulder. This will together with other two experienced players such as Ahmed Sayed Zizo who represent Zamalek and Former Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny create a winning team.

Coach Roger Micale still needs to fix the leaking pipe on his defense before the opener of Olympics and he has the believe that, the players have gained experience from those matches before their opening game in Olympics. The win over Iraq will act as the energy booster to the players as they needed something that will cheer them up.

Egypt will open their Olympics 2024 match with The Dominican Republic on 24th July then followed by a match against Uzbekistan three days later, while they will be concluding their Olympics match with a fixture of Spain on July 30.

Roger Micale will be hoping to become the first coach to help Egypt U23 team to win their maiden Olympics medals in Paris. Egypt best performance in the Olympics Competition was back in Toyko 1964 when they were beaten in the Semi-final by Hungary team.

After the 1964 Olympics the Pharaohs went on to reach the last eight on four further occasions which includes in their past two appearance back at London in 2012 as well as their appearance at Olympics in Tokyo 2020.
