INSTITUTIONAL LABOUR CAUCUS (ILC) DEPLORE DR. MTHUNZI’S SUSPENSION

Premier of Gauteng, Mr David Makhura, has on the 29 August 2022 issued a media statement to place Dr Ashely Mthunzi, the CEO of Tembisa Hospital on precautionary suspension pending an investigation.

However, the Tembisa Hospital Institutional Labour Caucus (ILC) outlined the unpleasant suspension orchestrated by the Premier even after the sent invitation to him seeking his audience regarding the issue.

The ILC Media Liaison Kansas Stevans says, upon sent letter on Friday, 26 August 2022, they warned him against taking any drastic decision on the CEO matter, but instead he went on, against the deterrent.

Stevans says, the suspension of Dr Ashley Mthunzi was uncalled for, and they further seeks to discuss the deliberate silence of the HOD, Dr Nomonde Nolutshungo and the MEC, Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi, on media reports assassinating the character of the CEO.

Furthermore, the ILC rejects the suspension with the contempt it deserves. They are of a strong view that the Premier undermines Organized Labour and also the rule of law.
