"We say it like it is"

Terence Crawford has made it Cristal clear that he intends to continue competing at super-welterweight

The former undisputed welterweight world champion relinquished his WBO 147lbs title on Monday night as he aim to challenge for new belts at 154lbs.

Brian Norman Jr has been changed from ‘interim’ to full world champion due to Crawford’s decision, while the WBA title is the only welterweight crown that ‘Bud’ still hold.

It is likely that he will also relinquish the black and gold title in the coming days, meaning WBA ‘regular’ champion Eimantas Stanionis will hold the title.

Crawford’s decision to relinquish WBO welterweight title allows him to remain as the holder of the WBO ‘interim’ super-welterweight champion.

This allows him to be champion for WBO and WBC unified champion Sebastian Fundora and puts him in a very strong position to mop up all four major sanctioning body world titles.

In April, the WBO ordered Fundora to challenge the winner between Crawford vs Madrimov but ‘The Towering Inferno’ was already agreed a deal to face Errol Spence.

If deal is stacked then Crawford could be moved to full WBO super-welterweight world champion without single fight.

Fundora’s promoter Sampson Lewkowicz recently addressed the situation regarding the rumors of Crawford to take over.

Lewkowicz said “What is true is that we are waiting for the WBO to send us a mandatory letter and negotiate.

“If you see Crawford he talks about everyone but he never mentioned Fundora as well as Turki Alalshikh.

“I respect him even though he didn’t mention Fundora and he has that right. But nobody got in touch with me or PBC about that fight so probably there is no interest.

“Whatever the decision I would never go against a new promoter, if he wants to do the best fight let him do it but I would never interfere with Turki…

“We need to negotiate it (Crawford fight) but we wait. This is a chess game, we are the champion so we will see what happens in the end.”

According to ESPN, Fundora vs Spence is set to take place in October at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

On the other hand, judging from comments made by Lewkowicz’s, Fundora’s team are also open to negotiating with Crawford.
