Head coach of Ghanaian ladies international Yussif Basigi hopes that the experience they are gaining throughout International friendly matches will help them to be competitive during their Women’s U20 World Cup.

As they are preparing for the major tournament in Colombia, they managed to played against the best nations in the world such as Mexico to goalless draw and South Korea by 2:2 on Tuesday.

Head coach Yussif Basigi revealed that his players are much more improved compared to the game they played against Mexico.

Basigi said “This has been an improved game as compared to the first one. In a game against Mexico, you could tell they were bit tensed but against South Korea, they played very well looking at how Korean play and we were able to hold them if not for the penalty, though it is part of the game.

“Conceding two penalties is a worry but it gives us fair idea of what to expect in the main tournament because at times referees protect players a lot and if you are not careful with little touch, they take penalty against you.

“It has given us a fair idea of what to do and we will work on that before our next game. We are ready for the tournament.

“All that we were looking for in the team, we have seen it and it has given us hope that this team will live up to expectation.”

The competition is set to kick start on Saturday, 31 August 2024 then end on Sunday, 22 September 2024 in Colombia.

Black Princesses will start their journey with a fixture against Austria on 3rd September, kickoff set at midnight 00:00.

Black Princesses are pared in group E with the following nations Austria, Japan and New ZeeLand.
