Egyptian International keeper revealed that he rejected other offers to stay with his current team

Al ahly and Egypt goal stopper Mohamed El Shenawy reveals that he had to turn down other offers from other teams in order to play for his current club.

The goalkeeper started his career at Al Ahly and he spend his time on loan between 2009 to 2016 to gain experience. Since made return to the club in 2016 the stopper has never relaxed at the Red Eagles ever since and went on winning multiple honours across the Egyptian Premier League, the CAF Champions League and more.

The experienced mind stopper expressed his gratitude regarding the opportunity afforded to him by the club and stated that he could have earned 20% more if he decided to leave the club.

El Shenawy said “I received offers amounting EGP 500m during the past three seasons but I decided to stay at Ahly despite being paid less than 20 percent of what I could have earned elsewhere. Al Ahly is the club of my life, and I am forever grateful for everything they have done for me.”

During their 2023 FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco, Al Ahly released a statement praising their captain’s trust worthy after rejecting a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia’s club Al Nassr.

The experienced mind stopper is again on the spot light of leaving the club due to his shoulder injury.

After sustaining his injury the short stopper has lost his place in Reds Devil starting eleven and his place is occupied by Mostafa Shobeir.

Shobeir ensured that his side becomes the kings of Africa once again after helping his side to defend CAF Champions League.

After recovering from his injury the Egyptian and Al Ahly number one first choice revealed that Marcelo Koller informed him about being first choice again.

El Shenawy said “After my injury, the coach informed me that I needed time to regain my form and that Shobeir would be relied upon during the final stages of the CAF Champions League. I accepted this decision and I was on the bench during both legs of the final.”

Towards the end of previous campaign short stopper were affordable opportunities to gain game time but when they face tough opponents.

El Shanawy says “I have been sidelined for more than four months, which affected my form, but now I am back and I have already started preparing for the new season to be fit and ready.”
