Former player announced as a new head coach of the Togolese Football Federation(FTF)

Nibombe Dare who hold a UEFA Pro license has been announced by FTF during the press at the headquarters in Kegue as a new head coach of Togo and will be tasked with a difficult project of leading his nation to the upcoming Total Energies CAF African Cup of Nations(AFCON) 2025 qualifiers.

Togo will be competing with African powerhouse Algeria, Equatorial Guinea and Liberia to book their space in Morocco. They are paired on Group E and the last time when they participate at AFCON it was back then in Egypt 2013 where they reached last Eight of the competition after they hold Tunisia a draw of 1-1.

They found themselves back to square one on the half hour of the game after the South African Referee Daniel Bennet issued a penalty for Tunisia after Dare Nibombe played a foul for dragging down Oualid Hichri while waiting for a corner.

FTF have realized a statement that confirms the appointment of the former player Dare after a long processes of profiling the candidate.

FTF said ”Nibombe Dare, a former international defender for the Hawks was chosen from a group of Togolese candidates. After a rigorous evaluation, it was finally Dare who was selected to lead the Hawks. The new coach inherits a team in search of stability and performance.

”With important deadlines in perspective, including the qualifications for the African Cup of Nations, CAN(CHAN) 2025 and the World Cup 2026. Dare will have the arduous task of forming a solid and coherent group.”

Dare take over the hot-seat from Paulo Duarte and his first match at the helm will be at his home soil where they will be welcoming Liberia in early September for the African Cup of Nation qualifiers from group E.

FTF general Secretary Herve Agbodan told the Media House that the new coach will seat down with them and discuss terms before he can sign the contract.

Herve said ”This is the official announcement of his appointment. Nibombe Dare will soon be in Lome to discuss the terms of his contract before his official presentation.”
