MAN APPREHENDED FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARM AND AMMUNITION

A 45-year-old male was arrested for being in possession of an unlawful firearm and ammunition at corner Plein and King George Street during midnight on the 16 November 2022.
Lt. Colonel Xoli Mbele says as the police in conjunction with JMPD were busy with their patrols, they stopped and searched three suspicious males who were walking in the street, they recovered a firearm with live rounds in one of the males.
Furthermore, Mbele said the firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in the commission of other serious and violent crimes since the man failed to produce a license to possess a firearm.
