Paris will held ceremony of Paralympic Games opening

Paris is bracing itself for another unique event this evening as they are hosting Paralympic Games opening ceremony that will kick off at 7pm UK time.

This event comes weeks later after French capital hosted successful Olympics and 4,400 athletes with disabilities, permanent injuries or impairments will take part out of 22 sports categories in the upcoming 11 days. It is the first time Paris will be hosting the Paralympic Games.

The competition is set to start from 29th August then it will end on 8th September 2024.

Ahead of the ceremony opening the artistic director for this year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games Thomas Jolly confirmed that the event will be the best and it will be first of the most.

Jolly said “Tonight’s opening ceremony will “showcase the Paralympic athletes and the values that they embody.”

He went on to promise the people who will attend the event that, during the opening ceremony they will get something special.

Jolly said “performances that have never been seen before” in a “spectacle that will unite spectators and television audiences worldwide around the unique spirit of the Paralympic Games.”

According to itvx stated that ‘Unlike the Olympic Games the Paralympic ceremony won’t travel down the Seine River, but will feature a parade of athletes down the Champs-Elysées to the ceremony at the Place de la Concorde.

‘Wheelchair basketball player Terry Bywater and wheelchair tennis athlete Lucy Shuker will carry the Union flag for ParalympicsGB at ceremony.

‘The GB flagbearers are voted for by their teammates, with all 215 athletes getting a vote and every sport allowed to nominate a representative for selection.

‘ParalympicsGB came second overall in the medal table at Tokyo 2020, with a total of 41 golds, 38 silvers and 45 bronzes.

Athletes who are expected to dominate their events in the next couple of weeks is 13-year-old Iona Winniforth, who is ranked number one in the world in the 100m breaststroke.

She became the youngest-ever Paralympic competitors and has already achieved what other athletes are hoping for in their career.

Liam McGarry is also hoping to do well at this summer’s Games, competing in the men’s weightlifting.

The competition will be having different types of the sports and they are over fifteen categories that will be taking place.
