Former Bidvest Wits midfielder predict hard time for Sirino at Chiefs

2 min read

Former Mamelodi Sundowns player-maker Gaston Sirino has recently joined the Phefani glamor boys on a two year deal contract after he spent six years with the reigning DSTV champions.

Sirino achieved alot with Sundowns individual and collective as he established himself amongst the best player in South African Football Frightened.

He managed to win major trophies with Bafana ba Style such as six league title, MTN8, Nedbank Cup, Carling Black Lable Cup and African Football League.

Sirino joined the Brazilan back then in 2018 from Bolivian club in January transfer window under Pitso Mosimane and it will be first time when he plays his football outside of Sundowns colors.

Now the SABC Sports Analyst Haskins suggested that it won’t be easy for Uruguay international to bring the Postive impact at club.

Haskins said “How good is he going to be playing with players around him, a big part why he was part at Sundowns is because of the quality of players around him and I think It’s going to be asking a lot of him to now come and be the saviour of the team or whatever the case may be.

Haskins went on to highlight the quality Sirino posses more especially when he opporate on a free role or number 10. He also think Sirino skills will benefit chiefs.

“I do believe and we spoke about it last week, when you look the quality he posses, I think definitely will add value in that regard but how effective he will be when you look at the squad around him?

“He is not sirino that came and lit up the league, I don’t think he is going to be the same player he was that we knew at the height of his day at Sundowns so it’s a tough one.

“But the reality is we are speaking and saying coach(Nasreddine) Nabi’s speech lamenting the fact that there’s not great amount of quality within the squad.”

Haskins also suggested that the new player brings another dynamic shape on the attacking midfield of chiefs.

Haskins said ” So, is he better than what they have? Probably. So, does he add value in that regard? He is because especially in that number 10 position, do Chiefs have a number 10 that excites you? This guy can in a moment of brilliance turn a game for them.

“I don’t think they quite have that right now so then from that perspective it’s a good signing but he does need players around him to complement him so that’s why it could work or might not work as well.”

Sirino becomes the fourth signing Chiefs made under the new tactician Nabi. Chiefs signed goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, Center Back Rushwin Dortley and Left Back Bongani Sam as they aim to bring glory days back at the club.

Mark Haskins retired from footballer when he was on loan at SuperSport United F.C. from Bidvest Wits during his playing time.
