Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro was left in disbelief after his troops throw away the game against Cape Town City during MTN8 first leg. The Buccaneers and the Citizens failed to steal the show as both side played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg fixture at DHL Stadium in Cape Town yesterday.

Pirates broke the deadlock through Relebohile Mofokeng in the 14th minute, but Jaedin Rhodes equalised in the 81st minute to give the home side hopes going into the second leg that will be played at Orlando Stadium.

After the match the coach of the visiting side(Pirates) Jose Riveiro described the match one half dominance and highlighted that they were not focused on the second half.

Reviero said “It was one half for each team, but I think the first was also not 100% for us. I think in the first half, Pirates had more control and were clearer about what we wanted to do.

“Sipho Chaine intervened two times in the first half but it was more of our mistakes, not that Cape Town City were creating chances.

“In the second half, we lost control in the 15 to 20 minutes, until they scored we couldn’t contain them and we were defending too low.”

Orlando Pirates tactician believes they have chance and advantage heading into the second leg at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

Reviero said “We were not doing what we wanted, and we couldn’t manage to stop them until they scored. But I think late in the game, we had a couple of opportunities to get more advantage. But it’s 1-1, I think it’s going to be a tight game on Saturday.”

The newly signed midfielder Miguel Viera ‘Gilberto’ was handed his first appearance under the Pirates color as he come in as substitute.
