Orlando Pirates have confirmed the signing of Stellenbosch Captain Deano van Rooyen on a three-year deal with two-year option. They have been one of the available teams on the transfer market as they bolster their team. In the recent signing, the Buccaneers signed the right back position player Van Rooyen who joins Thalente Mbatha, Miguel Viera and Selaelo Rasebotja who recently joined the club.

Pirates wrote in a statement “Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Deano van Rooyen from Stellenbosch. The 27-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Buccaneers, which includes an additional two-year option.”

In 2016 Van Rooyen made his debut for maroons at the age of 19 years and he helped the club to gain promotion to the top flight of South African football. He played a total of 150 matches for the Stellies across all the competitions and managed to win one trophy with the club since they joined elite division.

Van Rooyen will face tough competition at Pirates on the right back position as club has players such as Thabiso Monyane, Thabiso Lebitso and Bandile Shandu.
