It was a painful and devastating weekend for the former three times world number one Max Verstappen during the Dutch GP race. Verstappen was over taken by his team mate Lando Norris who claimed the first spot in just a blink of seconds.

Norris who claimed the first spot, won the race with gap of 22.8 seconds clear of the Dutchman at the closing stage, managing to reach 70 points in the drivers’ standing.

Martin Brundle who is analyist of motor race suggest that defeat of Verstappen is a wake-up call to the Red Bull as they are falling apart and their competitors such as McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari have closed the gap.

Brundle said: “I would hazard a guess that was not as fast as Max could go. He knew he couldn’t beat Lando and dropping back like that is going to give the factory a hurry up, isn’t it? I’d be pretty sure of that.”

After the race Verstappen expressed his dissatisfaction and highlighted the fact that there is something wrong with their cars and urged them to not press panic button.

Verstappen said “The last few races have not been fantastic, and in a sense, that has been alarming in itself, but we don’t need to panic.

“Something has being going wrong with the car that we need to understand and quickly improve. We are not quick enough and we know we have quite a bit of work to do.

“This weekend was a bad weekend in general, and we need to understand why that has been the case. We need to improve the situation and that is what we are working on, but Formula One is very complicated.”
