Sweden coach confirms he is negotiating with Nigerian Football Federation

Experienced Swedish coach Janne Andersson confirmed that he is negotiating with the Nigeria Football Federation over the coaching Super Eagles side, but shared that nothing has been agreed up to this point.

Janne Andersson doesn’t a have team after resigning from his role as Sweden coach in November 2023 after they failed to qualify for the 2024 European Championship.

Nigeria appointed Finidi George who also handed his resignation letter after just two games during their 2026 world cup qualifier.

After Finidi’s resignation the Executive Committee of the Nigerian Federation announced that they are still searching for the new coach as they have shot listed coaches such as Pitso Mosimane etc.

Nigerian Football Federation have announced that they have not appointed Janne Andersson as their head coach. After being asked if he will get a shot in the coaching vacancy of Nigeria, he revealed that he have dialogue with the Federation.

He said “It’s a huge footballing nation. I can confirm that I have had a dialogue with the Nigeria Football Federation.

“It’s a huge footballing nation so I’m extremely flattered to be in the running to be their next national team coach.

“Dialogue is ongoing and I don’t really want to say more than that. I have been in this industry for so long and know that things can happen in different ways. So we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Janne Andersson who previously coached Swedish clubs Halmstads BK, Örgryte IS and IFK Norrköping and he has never coached teams from other countries.
